Why is it so hot!? WTF!

Today is the first day of my semester break, but I don’t know what to do yet so I thought of “why not post something that never fails to comfort me”– like really. 😭

Many of us, if not all, wants to return from where we began, which is our CHILDHOOD- and I’m one of them, even though I’m not that much old yet. My childhood isn’t as interesting like others, since it’s very typical- except that I watched anime. Anime isn’t typical, duh? What made me thought of that is because I’ve seen an anime last night.

Yeah, big deal?

Actually, I haven’t watched anime for a very long period of time, since I don’t have much time to spare and the internet’s been such a slowpoke these days. In addition to that, animated movies had always been dear to my heart, even from back then and now; nothing’s changed a bit. It’s the same reason why I get myself really involved in arts and stuff, in hopes to get an employment on that field someday (ehem). Studio Ghibli played a really great part on my journey as a person. I’ve learned so much from their films, more than from real people- like a lot! Ghibli taught me friendship, the importance of family, courage, acceptance, self-worth, bravery, and respect- and most of these aren’t taught in school, lol.

So, why are we here today?

I’ll be sharing with you my Top 5 Most Favorite/Beloved Movies of all time! Uh huh! you read that right. 🌠

5. Spirited Away / 千と千尋の神隠し

This is the first movie that I’ve seen from SG, and I can remember that I almost lose my mind when I’ve seen this at Disney Channel on 2010. I used to watch this over and over again for another 3 long months back then, haha!

The story follows a young girl named Chihiro Ogino who got lost in the spirit world together with her parents. She later met this guy named Haku who helped her along the way to return to the human world.

Ten-year-old Chihiro Ogino and her parents are traveling to their new home when her father takes a wrong turn. They unknowingly enter a magical world that Chihiro’s father insists on exploring. While Chihiro’s parents eat like pigs at an empty restaurant stall, Chihiro finds an exquisite bathhouse and meets a young boy named Haku who warns her to return across the river before sunset. However, Chihiro discovers too late that her parents have turned into pigs and she is unable to cross the flooded river, becoming trapped in the spirit world… (link)

I was so negative about this film before, but nah.  I changed my mind eventually when I saw the ending. I cried and cried and cried all day long for this. Stop hating and everything. Keep the LOVE alive!

4. The Wind Rises / 風立ちぬ ( Kaze Tachinu )

The background art, the plot, the voices! Oooh! I’ve never been so excited for an animated film before like for this one. I used to check on updates for this movie back then like everyday, and watch its trailer over and over again for that one amazing BGM. Good times, good times. Still, I ended up crying a lot. This one’s a romance. If you’re into romance, airplanes and adventure then you’ll definitely enjoy this, even if you’re an adult. /duh/

In 1918, a young Jiro Horikoshi longs to become a pilot, but his nearsightedness prevents it. He reads about the famous Italian aircraft designer Giovanni Battista Caproni, and dreams about him that night. In the dream, Caproni tells him that he has never flown a plane in his life, and that building planes is better than flying them… (link)

3. Kiki’s Delivery Service / 魔女の宅急便 

You can’t blame me for liking this and rating this 3rd. /duh/

This is by far one of the best films that I’ve ever seen in my entire young life. I’ll admit. I wanted to become a witch before even if I’m a boy just to see the awesome sceneries that are displayed in this film. The plot’s amazing, there’s a little romance- puppy love /coughs/, and a lot of crying moments. The ending’s really happy and I won’t deny. You have to watch it for yourself! /bleh/

Thirteen-year-old trainee witch Kiki leaves home with her talking black cat Jiji. She flies on her broomstick to the port city of Koriko. While trying to find somewhere to live, Kiki is pursued by Tombo, a geeky boy obsessed with aviation who admires her flying ability…(link)

2. My Neighbor Totoro / となりのトトロ ( Tonari no Totoro )

There’s no denying. Everyone knows this film, and I might not have to tell anything at all. It’s just really-really-really good. Amazing backgrounds, story, character development, dubs, nearly everything! It’ll blow your mind once you watch it. This one’s so dear to my heart. I remember when I first watched it I really felt a little bit depressed, then after watching this I began feeling okay. It’s highly relatable.

In 1958 Japan, university professor Tatsuo Kusakabe and his two daughters, Satsuki and Mei, move into an old house to be closer to the hospital where their mother Yasuko is recovering from a long-term illness. Satsuki and Mei find that the house is inhabited by tiny animated dust creatures called susuwatari – small, dark, dust-like house spirits seen when moving from light to dark places.[note 1] When the girls become comfortable in their new house and laugh with their father, the soot spirits leave the house to drift away on the wind. It is implied that they are going to find another empty house – their natural habitat… (link)

1. Grave of the Fireflies / 火垂るの墓 ( Hotaru no Haka)

Finally, down to my most favorite one. By far, this is the best animated for me, okay?- and also the not so recent one. This drama film was created on 1988, can you believe that? I never thought they had cartoons on 1988, just kidding.

What I love most about this film is the intriguing intro and ending, which I won’t be mentioning in my commentary. This film created a very huge crater to me as a person, and my perspective about war and peace. The struggles of not having anything to eat, nowhere to stay, and losing your family. Okay, I’m tearing up. I highly recommend you guys this because it’s really good. Even though this one isn’t as famous as the other films above I guarantee you that it has as much lessons- might have even more lessons though, haha!

The flashback begins in Kobe on 16–17 March 1945, with a fleet of several hundred American B-29 Superfortress bombers flying overhead. Setsuko and Seita, the two siblings, are left to secure the house and their belongings, allowing their mother, who suffers from a heart condition, to reach a bomb shelter… (link)
